Palpa District has emerged as a powerhouse in Nepal’s citrus industry, with local farmers producing over 9,000 metric tons of oranges this season, marking a significant rise from last year’s 8,861-ton yield. According to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre (AKC), this surge highlights the region’s growing dominance in commercial orange farming and sustainable agriculture.
Santosh Kumar Chaudhari, Chief of AKC Palpa, reported that orange sales generated Rs 527.84 million this year, a 14.5% increase from Rs 460.7 million in the previous season. Chaudhari attributed the success to favorable weather, improved farming techniques, and better market access. “Farmers are thrilled with both the harvest quality and smoother sales channels,” he added.
