Kathmandu, 4 February 2025, British Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, has arrived in Kathmandu for a six-day official visit to Nepal. His wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, arrived earlier this morning.
Their visit aims to strengthen UK-Nepal relations and includes meetings with top Nepali officials, Gurkha veterans, engagement with youth programs, and support for women’s rights initiatives. They will also visit various parts of the country to enjoy its natural beauty.
The couple will travel to Ghandruk in Pokhara, where they will admire the stunning Annapurna range and visit a British Gurkha camp.
British Prince Edward, the youngest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the brother of King Charles III, is 15th in line to the British throne.
His visit marks Nepal’s first major foreign dignitary visit of 2025.
