“Karnali Province Faces Critical Teacher Shortage: Over 5,500 Vacant Positions Impacting Education Quality”

Surkhet, February 4 – Karnali Province faces a critical shortage of over 5,500 schoolteachers , impacting 2,931 community schools . With only 11,865 teachers employed against the required 17,384 , the deficit is alarming.

Balbir Sunar, Senior Education Officer  at Ministry of Social Development in the Karnali Province Addressed this crisis is vital for equitable education and regional development.

Secondary schools lack 1,749 teachers , basic schools need 2,699 teachers , and higher secondary schools require 457 teachers more . The absence of subject-specific teacher in English, Mathematics, and Science is affecting education quality, leaving students and schools struggling.
